Are you ready for an adventure that takes you back to the most thrilling time of the Cold War? Then discover the "secret" former underground NATO headquarters in the Cannerberg! This is your chance to explore a piece of history that remained hidden from the outside world for decades.
In 1954, the Boschberg, part of the Cannerberg, was transformed into NATO’s most strategically important wartime and training headquarters during the Cold War. From here, air defense and military operations for the northern part of West Germany were coordinated. Until 1992, this underground complex operated as a bustling nerve center, where everything was carried out in utmost secrecy, day and night.
Although the complex was thoroughly cleaned and “stripped” after NATO’s departure, the atmosphere and rich history of this monument are still visible. As you walk through the impressive ruins, a passionate guide takes you on a fascinating journey through time. You'll uncover traces of this secret headquarters and hear stories that bring the past vividly to life!
The temperature in the Cannerberg is always below 10 degrees Celsius. We therefore recommend wearing a jacket during the tour.
